Our Internship Program
Welcome to the Project Light Internship Resources page, where the broadening of your intellectual horizon and career skill-set begins! Throughout the duration of our internship program, we have had the pleasure of working with various degree-seeking students from colleges, universities, and other higher education institutes in
Virginia. Each intern has brought with them an eagerness to learn and through the real world, hands-on projects we offer, have left with more than the knowledge they originally sought! Here at Project Light, we don’t expect you to stuff envelopes, file papers, nor answer multiple phone lines; instead, we give you opportunities to practically apply in our office what you have learned in the classroom!
The Benefits are Awesome!
We encourage all degree-seeking students to apply for an internship with us, because the results are mutually beneficial! In addition to making a difference in the lives of others, some of the awesome benefits that our interns have earned include: career-skill building, real-world practice, resume enhancement, network-structuring, and expanded knowledge of the non-profit sector.
Duration of Internships and Requirements
Project Light is continuously seeking interns for its headquarter office, so if you are interested, you do not have to wait particularly for the beginning of fall or spring semesters. The duration of your tenure relies on whether or not you are interning for course credit or are doing so voluntarily. If you are seeking an internship for course credit, then it is advised that you consult your school regarding the hours required to successfully complete an internship. (For instance: A university may require that students complete 150 hours of interning while another may require only 100 hours.) However, if you do not wish to intern on the terms of course credit, then your tenure could last as long as you would like it to!
Project Light does offer paid internships only to students employed in their college’s work study program; all other internships are unpaid. Candidates are selected based on the content of the resume and an interview. We advise that you consult your college for any requirements it might have as well. Please note that it is not required of anyone to be of a specific religion, as Project Light is an equal opportunity employer.
