Sherri Crawford
Ministry President
Sherri Crawford is the president of Project Light.  She has always had a heart for the poor and underprivileged.  Before becoming a lawyer, Sherri loved volunteering by teaching English as a Second Language to El Salvadorian refugees seeking U. S. citizenship.

In 1996, Sherri started her career as a corporate intellectual property lawyer for software companies in Silicon Valley, and it was during this time that she intensified her volunteer involvement with under-privileged children and became a reading tutor for homeless children.  Simultaneously, Sherri began seeking God as to how she could use her skill-set as a software lawyer to serve Him. 

In 2000, Sherri took an opportunity to volunteer her time at the International Justice Mission  and worked as a lawyer in Kenya, Africa. While visiting a school in the slums of Nairobi, she saw impoverished children: an image that she could not forget upon her return to the U.S., and one that would change her life forever.

Shortly after this experience, in 2001, Sherri reunited with her father Jim Crawford.  Unbeknownst to Sherri, her father had founded Project Light a non-profit organization that partners with Faith-Based and Community based organizations to the Project Light Tutoring Program and Software that meets literacy, ESL and GED needs world-wide.  She knew at once that she wanted to be a part of this and was asked by her father to join the Board of Directors in 2002 as the Interim Chairman of the Board, which she gladly accepted.

In 2004, Sherri relocated to Virginia to volunteer her time at Project Light as the acting Director of Operations and later as the President of the Ministry.  Today Sherri is still actively practicing corporate law which gives her the opportunity to continue volunteering as the President of Project Light. 

Sherri earned her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her J.D., from Santa Clara University School of Law.  At Santa Clara University she served as the president of the Public Interest Law Foundation, was involved in the Christian Law Society, and was a comments editor for the schoolÙs Computer & High Technology Law Journal. Sherri also attended Oxford University, where she studied Jurisprudence. 


James & Maria Crawford
Founder, President Emeritus and Intercessors
Jim Crawford is the founder of Project Light. In 1979 Mr. Crawford formally registered as a Non-Profit under the name Christian Communications Technology and began to instruct ministries and Churches in the use of the Zero-to-Five software and The Light is Coming. In 1995 the name was officially changed to Project Light. He acted as the President of the ministry for more than 25 years.

As President Emeritus and Founder, Mr. Crawford is an active member of the Board of Directors and today, he and his wife, Maria are still serving the ministry through prayer, fundraising and new projects.


Jim & Barbara Gray
National Training
Learning Center Directors
Barbara Gray is the National Training Coordinator for Project Light and the Director and Tutor of the Learning by Faith ESL Learning Center. Learning by Faith LC is also our first model Regional Training and Support Center. Jim Gray, Barbara's husband, also assists Project Light through many outreach and development projects.

Jim and Barbara attend Faith Presbyterian Church where they have attended for many years. Faith Presbyterian also sponsors their Learning Center. Several years ago Jim and Barbara felt the call to International missions and have been actively working in partnership with Project Light and other ministries to establish Learning Centers and outreach to countries in need world-wide.


Richard Layman
IT & Software Development Director
Rick Layman first became a part of Project Light around 1985. He helped with some of the early concepts of putting the literacy program onto Laser Disk. He then went as a missionary to Taiwan for 12 years. In 1998 Rick returned to Project Light as a Multimedia Developer and then as Executive Director for several years. In 2004 Rick and his family returned to Taiwan for two years and upon his return in late 2005, Rick joined the Project Light Board of Directors.

Today, Rick continues to serve on the Board of Directors and works several days a week as the Director of Software and Development for Project Light. He is also an IT Director for a prominent Christian school and an active member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church, where he and his family have attended for more than 20 years.


Jim Harrison
Director of Outreach
Jim Harrison joined Project Light as Director of Outreach in 2006 and has worked collaboratively with the Project Light team to increase Accountability, Sustainability and Excellence in our Learning Centers and new Outreach initiatives. Jim is also involved in the testing and improvement of our up-coming Internet Version of the Project Light Software.

Jim has worked for many years in the transportation and financial services industry and has a Masters in Zoology. Jim is an Area Pastor at Wave Church where he and his family have attended for more than 20 years. He has a heart to see every child and adult have the opportunity to learn to read and to hear and understand the good news.


Kadee Williams
Bookeeper & Office Manager
Kadee Williams is Project Light's Bookkeeper and Office Manager. She joined the team in February 2007 and has added a lot of energy to the team while coordinating volunteers, managing the office and assisting Ms. Crawford. She also manages the Graphics Update project in order to have all of the more than 100,000 graphics in the Project Light Zero-to-Five software updated to a more current look and feel.

Kadee has been a part of literacy and education as a Homeschool mother of four children for five years and as a Director for Oakleaf Summer Reading Program, sponsored by Hampton Roads Community Care in 2006 and 2007.


Darius Malinowski
Fundraising and Strategic Partnership Development
Darius Malinowski joined Project Light in 2008 to assist with Research and Development of funding, outreach and statistics.  Darius came to us through Old Dominion University where he met Sherri Crawford at a presentation to the Business Honors Students Society.  He is very passionate about Project Light's vision and is currently working with Sherri to increase fundraising, outreach and new programs.

Darius graduated with a degree in Business Management from Old Dominion University with relevant courses in Growth of Nonprofit Organizations and Economic Development.  Darius attends Glad Tidings Church.


Rosean Lindsey
Lead Graphic Artist
Rosean Lindsey joined Project Light as our Lead Graphic Artist in December 2007. He recently graduated from ECPI with a degree in Graphic Arts.

He is also the Founder of Godz Youngstaz, a non-profit committed to helping teens work through life issues with integrity and bringing them to back to Christ. He is also the author and artist for Godz Youngstaz comics. Rosean is also an active member of Transforming Christian Center in Norfolk, VA.


Keon Mann
Graphic Artist
Keon joined Project Light as a Graphic Artist in January 2008. He recently graduated from Tidewater Community College with a degree in Graphic Arts.

Keon currently works for the Newport News Shipyards, while he continues to develop his skills. He is very excited to work at Project Light as he begins his chosen career in Graphic Arts.

Keon is an active member of United Full Gospel Revival Center in Suffolk, VA where he and his family have attended for more than 7 years.


Fernando & Leonor Del Castillo
International Training
Learning Center Directors
Fernando and Leonor Del Castillo are the International Training Team for Project Light and the Directors of Riverchase Learning Center. Additionally, Leonor is a tutor for the Riverchase Learning Center on a daily basis. In 1998 they came to Alabama as missionaries from Ecuador to the United States, specifically to the Hispanic people in Alabama and Georgia.

Fernando serves as an Associate Pastor of outreach to the Hispanic Community at Riverchase United Methodist in Hoover, Alabama, where he and Leonor have attended for several years.


Franklin Griffin, III
Programmer
Franklin Griffin is the lead programmer for Project Light's Zero-To-Five and The Light Is Coming literacy software.
